Four Natural Home Remedies to Ease the Pain of Sunburn

At some time or another, we’ve all experienced the effects of sunburn – be it a light burn or a more heavy burn.

While the stinging of regret of inadequate protection (from exposure to UV) may be an excellent incentive to plan more carefully on ' future ' occasions, it is of little help in alleviating the immediate physical sting (i.e. pain) accompanying sunburn.
However, if you've found yourself spending a little too much time in the sun,— here are four natural home remedies to help alleviate sunburn pain and assist in the healing process of the body:

1. Cool Milk Compresses:-It is known that fat and lactic acids in milk have sunburned skin soothing qualities. Soak a soft cloth or cotton gauze in cool whole milk, and dab carefully onto the burned skin. Do this for around 20 minutes, and follow by rinsing off with cool water. (Due to the importance of the milk’s fat content, it’s important that whole milk be used in this treatment).

2. Cool, sugarless tea:-The active ingredient here is tannin in tea, which helps to soothe and ease some of the sunburned skin's discomfort. Slosh the affected areas with a soft sponge or washcloth after brewing a large pot of tea and allowing it to cool completely. You can also fill a spray bottle and spray the tea directly on the skin, as with the vinegar (4).. And don’t throw away the used (cool) teabags. These are particularly good for sensitive areas around the eyes – if they feel hot and tired, simply place the teabags over your eyes. (If you have ‘St John's Wort's consider using this as it contains cooling properties that can help soothe some of the heat in your skin and soothe the sunburn-damaged nerve endings).

3. Aloe Vera:-Aloe Vera is widely used for sunburn treatment. It can also help in the healing process as well as providing soothing relief. Apply to the affected areas as needed. Although the gel extracted directly from an aloe Vera plant works best, if you don't have ready access to one, you can use an Aloe Vera Cream containing the gel' over the counter.' Just make sure that the cream contains a high concentration of Aloe Vera than water or other solutions for this purpose..

4. Water:-The body loses water and essential body salts when exposed to the sun. Dehydration takes place when your body loses too much fluid and starts reabsorbing fluid from the blood and other body tissues. To avoid dehydration consequences, increase your intake of fluid to ensure that your body is adequately rehydrated for optimum recovery and health. Sunburn should, of course, be avoided wherever possible— especially since its adverse effects include not only skin damage, but also increased skin cancer risk Prevention and protection should always be considered the best sunburn treatment and will help ensure your long-term health is optimal!
